Totally Teabags!

I have been having the MOST FUN making these teabag and cookie holders! More fun than anything else I've made for craft shows. Why are they so much fun? Well, partly because they are easy, and of course they're super cute too! I think a lot of the fun comes from the fact that I have a stamp set that fits the theme so well. I just love themes!! Oh, which stamp set you ask? Tea Shoppe, and there are soooo many possible combinations of how to use these stamps. On some of the cards in the teabag and cookie holder I'm using "tea for two" on the front cut out with the smallest size designer labels die cut, then mounted on the next size with coordinating card stock. On the front of other cards, I'm using one of the small cups stamped in a coordinating ink color and adorned with pearls. Cause what girl has tea without her pearls right? I punch the small cups out with a 1 3/8 inch circle punch, then layer it on coordinating card stock with the decorative label punch. Some have "Just for You" or "you suit me to a tea" stamped and punched with the Modern Label and Word Window Punches. On the inside I've put the "friend's vocabulary" or the "The White Peony Tea Shoppe." Ohhh and I just thought those little flowers would be cute inside a teacup! Or what about teabag folding, or teacup charms, lace or a small punched flower? See what I mean this theme offers so many possibilities. I'm placing an order next week for some designer series paper and some lace ribbon to tie them with, that would be perfect:) I'm getting Twitterpated, Comfort Cafe, Attic Boutique and Berry Blossoms and Letters to Santa. I can't wait to make some more of these little cuties! I found some great tea cookies to put in the bag: Nabisco Social Tea Biscuits. There are around 100 cookies in the package for 3.99 at my grocery store.

I've now made twelve of them and I'm out of patterned paper. It's a good thing I have an order coming next week! I'm going to make bunches more!! I took pictures to show you some of them and instead of one recipe, I included the punches I used and the papers and lace ribbon I've ordered. I have a bunch of teacup charms and things from my old jewelry stash that I just broke out! What fun!!

OH!! Maybe I should arrange these all around a teapot, on a lace tablecloth! oooooh and fresh flowers in a vase too:)

Debi Pippin is the creator of these adorable teabag and cookie holders. I used Chiaki Haverstick's directions for them:  http://stampingpro.com/wp-content/uploads/Teabagandcookieholder2.pdf

Chiaki wrote wonderful directions, but I would add these two steps:

  • Punch two holes close together on either side of the center. Secure cello bag of cookies with a twist tie, then place between the two holes when threading the ribbon through the dsp and tie bow at the top.
  • Card: 3 ¼” x 5” One pocket for card, the other pocket can hold one or two teabags.

Christmas Gift Ideas

I'm making these for craft shows, but you might like to make them for gifts. These clear cases are sold by Stampin' Up! They're like CD cases, but they don't have that notchy thing in the middle so it's perfect for a junior legal pad. I also put an RSVP pen, a pocket and a calendar in these. I put directions for these on a previous post here. For the notepad cases below, I cut the tablets to 4 1/2 inches wide to accommodate the RSVP pen. I got the small calendars from SkyBluePink for a great price.

My friend Connie Stewart put a post it note pad and a smaller paper pad in hers and you can see it here.
Magnet Calendar- I simply adhered the calendar, stamped image and layers of paper together then put a magnet on the back. I used register covers from Home Depot. They come three in a package for around 4.50 and they are huge!
These tea and cookie holders are soooo adorable and would make such a wonder little gift for neighbors, co-workers, mail delivery person, etc. This is Debi Pippin's original idea. Her blog post with videos can be found here. I've had the most fun decorating the cards that go in the front pocket with the Stampin' Up! stamp set called Tea Shop. The pocket in the back can fit two tea bags if you like.
I made these Grinch pills using the 1 by 8 cello bags from Stampin' Up! the  modern label, ornament from merry minis punch pack and 3/4 inch circle punch. I hand cut the hat. The poem is on the back of his head. A lot of people use tic tacs and put the label around the package. They are too expensive to use for craft show purposes, so I opted to use green M &Ms.

Life With Aussies

Woke up this morning, trudged into the kitchen, turned on the coffee then went outside to pet the dogs. Cricket kept disappearing around the corner, while I kept petting Sydney. This was weird, cause Cricket is always pushing Sydney away so she can get all my attention. Cricket would come back for pets then disappear again. I thought this was really weird behavior for my little shadow, so I finally walked around the corner to see what had her interest...
another dead varmit, all chewed up! She was happily playing with it and throwing it up in the air.
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
It was a dead squirrel!!
BLECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I texted DH and he said to get it away from them Now this man has known me since we were 13 years old, what part of him even considers that I would touch a dead icky critter? ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Innocent looking aren't they? You know why Sydney is closing her eyes though right?
I packaged up 17 of these with mini gel pens for craft shows.
You know all those birds I made the other day? Well some of them flew over to the display board. I guess they thought the birdhouses needed owners.

I May Never Go Outside Again!

Yesterday I was attacked by some miniscule insect varmit. I never saw it, but the bite(s) left my hand with an extreme allergic reaction which took 2 Benedryl, and hydrocortisone creme to get under control. Then this morning I went out to play with my Australian Shepherds, and Cricket had been hunting.... she had varmit blood and guts on her. eeeewwwww!!!!! So much for all the don't kill bunny lessons I gave her. I just know there is a dead one in the yard somewhere, well unless Sydney has eaten it already. Poor Bunny Foo Foo.

I have since retired to my studio where I'm safe surrounded by paper, stamps and ink pads:)  I've been making birds. Wanna see?
Some of the birds flew to our display board and perched in the tree branches and some nested in bird houses. The rest will be on cards like this one:

For The Birds!

My friend Pam came over yesterday to help me arrange things on our craft show display board. This will be on an easel on the entrance of our booth. I'm making more birds with the Build a Bird punch right now for cards, but I think a few more may fly around on the board too.
The stars exploding from the elf's wand are some samples of SU designer paper.

These peacock feathers are samples of SU card stock colors.
I'm still on the bird channel, so I'm making cards with them now:)
