I just made a book to keep track of my favorite Stampin' Up! color combinations. Yeah, I know, I'm kind of a dork. But isn't it pretty? I used several products from the new catalog. This is a color combination I would have never thought of using:) The pages are cardstock and I bound the book with my Cinch from We Are Memory Keepers.

Card Set Holder

We had such fun making these today!!! There are a few different versions of these cute purses floating around the internet. Caroline Hallett made a style that I loved, but her's was for 4" x 4" cards. I made one then fiddled around to make a different size that would accommodate 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards. Everything in this set is beautiful because of the coordinating products: Bohemian Borders stamp set, Bohemian designer series paper, cardstock, Bohemian designer washi tape, candy dot brads, Boho Chic embossing folder. The pen inside the purse is decorating in coordinating washi tape, the inside of the cards and envelopes too all coordinate with these beautiful colors and patterns.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Rhapsody is an ecstatic expression of feeling or enthusiasm. That's exactly how I felt when I first saw all these products in the new catalog - ecstatic! I love anything Bohemian: art, clothes, rubber stamps even the song by Queen. I was thrilled to see this stamp set along with all the coordinating products, embossing folder, designer series paper, and washi tape. Gosh, I even adore the colors in the paper and washi tape!

Of course the fact that a Bohemian is a person, an artist or writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices has nothing to do with it... giggles! I am pretty conservative, but with a definite Bohemian streak.

I'm listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody right now. In music, rhapsody is an instrumental composition irregular in form and suggestive of improvisation. Improvisation… that’s exactly what we do when given pretty papers, stamps, and all the embellishments we collect. Designing projects... anything artistic just makes my soul sing, you know what I mean? Can you tell I've been reading Dictionary.com? Lol!

To say I've been having fun with this set is a total understatement! Designing a card set, matching pen and purse holder for a class next week was such a delight. Below are some of my experiments. After class, I will post those designs too. For now they are under wraps so my friends in class will be surprised.

Stamp Your Art Out!

My monthly class met yesterday and as usual it was such fun. I really enjoy this group of ladies and had the opportunity to meet some new people this month. What a treat!

We did a couple masculine projects for Father's Day or Birthday for the men in our lives, or even a woman would appreciate these nautical/beachy themes. My treat holder will go to my husband, filled with his favorite Dove dark chocolates for Fathers' Day.

More New Products and a Secret

Wanna know a secret? I can not photograph cards. I have read tutorial after tutorial, used auto and manual settings, a light box and everything else anyone has told me to so. Photoshop? Yep, I took two photography classes in grad school. But I can't brighten a photograph of a card and get the color right. Outdoor landscapes? I rock those. Indoor candid shots of family and friends, yep, I can do those too. And you know what? I just plain give up. There is something in my brain that simply does not process this procedure. My scanner works beautifully except for 3D things, so I have two photos for you today. One that shows the curve in the flutterby wings and the other which shows the proper color.

From scanner, this one has the correct color.

The butterfly carries a symbolic meaning in many cultures. It is always associated with a peaceful spirit and metamorphosis because of the transformation they undergo in the cocoon. In some Chinese cultures, the butterfly represents immortality. In some Japanese cultures, butterflies represent the human soul. White butterflies are a common symbol for angels and spirit guides.

Some Native Americans have a butterfly totem which serves to guide them on a journey of freedom from the past to becoming a higher self. Still others believe that Butterfly is the symbol of change, the soul, creativity, freedom, joy and color. It reminds us not to take things too seriously and to get up and move. They teach us that growth and transformation does not have to be a traumatic experience, it can be joyous. Butterflies have the ability to grow and change, leaving the safety of their cocoon to discover life in a new form without fear. They work through many stages to become the beautiful creature they are. Similar to the butterfly, we too are always moving through different stages, each equally as vital. It is no good rushing to a particular stage, nor is it good getting stuck at a stage and becoming stagnant.

Many people believe that a butterfly is a sign from a loved one who has passed away, and in many cultures, it is considered a bad omen to harm a butterfly.

Me? I simply refuse to call this beautiful creature a butterfly. It has nothing to do with butter and it doesn’t fly, it flutters. Since I was very young, I have called it a flutterby...giggles!
