Oceanfront - Featuring Faux Sea Glass Shapes

This stamp set has sure been a hit with me! It makes a quick and easy card and it's beautiful! The Faux Sea Glass Shapes give such a lovely touch to finish off these cards.

After cutting the beach houses from the Horizon dies, I colored them with Stampin' Blends, and a thin black Sharpie for a bit of outline. I inked the beach stamp in Crumb Cake, then used a Sponge Dauber to apply a bit of Soft suede to the straighter side of the stamp.

Valentines Without Valentine Stamps

How do you make a Valentine's Day card with no Valentine stamps? Easy, you improvise. Think about it, any floral stamp can work, just use a Valentine greeting. But what if you want to make a Valentine for a man? Lots of Masculine stamps would work, just use appropriate colors and a greeting stamp that you have on hand, or type your greeting on a word processing document.

CHALLENGE: Look through your stamps and papers and come up with an un-Valentine Valentine's Day card.

Need a little nudge of inspiration? Below, I used the SALE-A-BRATION stamp set Driving By. I thought a black and red combo would be good for a masculine card, so I colored the cute little sports car red. Then I looked at all my DSP for a print in black and white. I found one in the Daffodil Afternoon DSP from the SALE-A-BRATION catalog. The cool thing about our DSP, is that is is printed on both sides, so you get the double the patterns. This particular package of papers has daffodil prints on one side and more subdued patterns and colors on the other. I especially liked those sides. The stamp used in the greeting said, "Driving By just to say Hi." I used a piece of post-it note to cover up the word HI. Happy Valentine's Day, and some punched out hearts to make my card.

For the second card, I used the same DSP, Flirty Flamingo, Pale Papaya and Basic White cardstock, along with Oval Dies and Heart Dies.
For this last card, I used the Harvest Meadow DSP, and Poppy Parade cardstock.

Treat Packaging

Here's another treat package. These are Archway cookies. Windmill shaped cookies... How could you not package them with our beautiful windmill stamps and dies? I happened to have some food safe treat bags leftover from Christmas time. I got them at Walmart. They are 5 in, wide and about 10 in. long.

  • I cut about 2 in off of the length of the bag and inserted two windmill cookies in each one.

  • For the topper, I cut a piece of poppy parade cardstock 5" x 5-3/4," scored it in the middle at 2-1/4."

  • For the backing piece, I cut another piece of cardstock 5" x 5-3/4."

  • After folding the top of the cellophane bag down, I put the topper over the bag and the backing piece and stapled it.

  • The Flowering Fields DSP was cut to 2” x 5” and adhere to each side of the topper.

  • For the front, I stamped and colored a windmill with Stampin' Blends and adhered it to the topper.

  • For the Back, I stamped the message from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set and punched it out with the Story Label punch.

  • The windmill die was cut from Petal Pink and Poppy Parade and adhered to the bottom portion.

Windmill Treat Holder

Here is a new treat holder. It's a small box with the windmill diecut on the short side. I put candy in a treat bag and tied it up with coordinating color ribbon. If you don't have a matching color ribbon, you can color the White crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon #151326 easily with any color Stampin' Blend alcohol ink marker. I tried it and just one swipe with a marker and you get beautiful coverage that dries instantly.

  • Cardstock measuring 5-1/2 x 6-1/2

  • On the long side score at 2 in and 4-1/2 in

  • On the short side score at 2 in and 3-1/2 in

  • Use a bone folder to reinforce score lines and on both long sides

  • Miter the edges and cut in to first score lines on the long sides

  • Glue the box together, and glue the windmill die cut to the short side

More On the Horizon

I love it when stamp sets and bundles pair so beautifully together! The first card below was made using the On the Horizon bundle along with the New Horizons Designer Series Paper.

I am sooooo crazy in love with this DSP, that I have ordered three packages!! Why so many you ask? First of all it's beautiful, secondly it is such fun to build scenes with, and lastly, it can be used with so many stamp sets, it's the MOST versatile paper ever! Besides the On the Horizon bundle, I've been using it with Grassy Grove, and Wildlife Wonder. I just ordered the Oceanfront stamp set and can't wait to use it with this DSP and coordinate it with the On the Horizon bundle as well.

The second card uses On the Horizon, the trees from the Majestic Mountain Dies, the DSP of course.... oh and the Pebbles Enamel Shapes which are so cool!!

Island Vibes (SALE-A-BRATION)

This stamp set is available FREE with a $50.00 order through SALE-A-BRATION. It's a fun set and coordinates beautifully with but Timeless Tropical bundle from the annual catalog. Here are two simple and elegant cards I made this morning.

The first one uses Granny Apple Green and Basic White cardstock. I stamped the corner image of leaves in Old Olive, then I put the white cardstock on my paper trimmer and scored under and on the left side of the image for a touch of interest. I stamped the pineapple in Mango Melody, then used a sponge dauber to apply Granny Apple Green ink to the leaves. I cut out the pineapple and adhered it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Some In Color Jewels lend a bit of sparkle

This card has a Just Jade card base and a Basic White panel. I used all three stamps around the edges of the card in Just Jade, Granny Apple Green and Gorgeous Grape inks. Next I simply stamped the pineapple in each of the same colors on three white panels. These were then adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Just Jade, from the Art Gallery stamp set and diecut with the Floral Gallery dies.

Wildlife for Masculine Cards

I initially chose this stamp set to use with the Grassy Grove dies, I thought the animals would look great in the forest.... but I have since learned that this set is amazingly versatile on it's own! I made two of these cards this morning. I had fun with the insides and envelopes as well!

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Are you old enough to remember Tiny Tim singing Tiptoe Through the Tulips? I adore flowers and I never think of that song as it was not one of my favorites by any means, but it just came to me as I began writing. Rather than a long haired hippy, I prefer to think of a small child dancing in the tulips. The Flowering Fields Designer Paper just makes me happy! Every single time I look at it, I smile:)

Creating on a Cold Day

Creating away on this cold, cold day.... Well, it's cold for South Carolina anyway. It was 31 degrees this morning when I got up. It's a perfect day to stamp!

I used the Tulip Fields Bundle from the Jan. - June Mini catalog, and the Simply Marbleous DSP from the SALE-A-BRA-TION catalog.
  1. The Foam Adhesive Strips pop up the frame made with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The background of the windmill and the blades were cut from Crumb Cake, while the detailed die was cut from Early Espresso.
  2. I used the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder on some retired Galvanized Metallic paper, then punched it out with a 1/8" Circle Punch. I did several of these to have on hand.
  3. The row of tulip die was used to cut So Saffron, Fresh Freesia and Balmy Blue for the tulip field
  4. The greeting from the Art Gallery stamp set was stamped in Blushing Bride on Basic White cardstock.
Each time I make a windmill from the die in this bundle, I've used different colors of cardstock and they all look great! It's been fun to come up with various color combinations.

Wildlife Wonder

Our Card Ministry group at church can't meet this month due to Covid restrictions. Our stash of birthday cards for seniors is dangerously low, so we are making some at home this month:) We're so blessed to have such generous ladies in our community!

I initially thought this stamp set would pair beautifully with the New Horizons Designer Paper and the Grassy Grove bundle, I've discovered it works beautifully on its own! Two inking techniques help make these quick and simple designs pop! Fellow Demo, Laura Ofthelake, shared the retiform ink technique with us on the Stampin' Up! Demo group. It is sooo simple, you just take a piece of scrap paper, lay it down, use your blending brush to apply ink and repeat. In the sample below, I used Misty Moonlight and Old Olive inks. The bear was stamped in Early Espresso. The mat is Misty Moonlight and the card base is Old Olive.

The Grassy Grove bundle and the Wildlife Wonder stamp set can be found in the new January - June Mini Catalog which begins on Tuesday, Jan. 4th.

Using geometric ink patterns again, this time I used the stitched rectangles die to create a 'window' stencil. Then I held it on my paper and used a blending brush to apply Bumble Bee ink. I could have used the same procedure for the circle, but instead I used the moon stamp from the Mountain Air stamp set inked in Pumpkin Pie. The mat is Soft Suede and the card base is Crumb Cake. The 'grass' image is stamped with Garden Green and the sentiment with Pacific Point.

Cardstocks, inks, blending brushes and the Mountain Air stamp set can be found in the annual catalog.
