Starburst Technique



Horizontal Format

  1. Cut 4 pieces of DSP that are 1 ½” x 4”
  2. Then cut each piece diagonally on the paper trimmer. You now have 8 triangles of DSP.
  3. Cut 5” x 2 ¾” piece of scrap cardstock, mark the center of the long side
  4. Cover entire piece with glue
  5. Place first triangle on the right of the center line with the point down. Then the next triangle on the left side of the center line. Place remaining triangles.
  6. Trim all the excess DSP that is hanging of the cardstock scrap you just covered.
  7. Cut 5 x 3 ¾” coordinating color cardstock panel, and adhere the starburst panel to it.
  8. Stamp greeting on the bottom, add ribbon to cover edges and to add embellishment.


Vertical Format

  1. Cut 3 pieces of DSP that are 1 ½” x 4”
  2. Then cut each piece diagonally on the paper trimmer. You now have 6 triangles of DSP.
  3. Cut 3 ½” x 3 ¾” piece of scrap cardstock, mark the center of the long side
  4. Cover entire piece with glue
  5. Place first triangle on the right of the center line with the point down. Then the next triangle on the left side of the center line. Place remaining triangles.
  6. Trim all the excess DSP that is hanging of the cardstock scrap you just covered.
  7. Use two of these cut off pieces to fill in the last two spaces in the starburst.
  8. Cut 5 x 3 ¾” coordinating color cardstock panel, and adhere the starburst panel to it.
  9. Stamp greeting on the bottom, add 5/8” x 3 ¾” strip of cardstock and/or ribbon to cover edges and to add embellishment.
