Card Set Box Tutorial

This box will hold 4 to 6, A2 sized cards and matching envelopes.

Materials:
8-5/8" x 11-1/8" piece of card stock
Sticky Strip Tape or Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Simply Scored Scoring Tool
Ribbon

1.     Begin with your paper in the portrait position (8 5/8" side across the top of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool). Line up the right edge of your card stock to the 12 inch line on the Scoring Tool, score at 10” and 11.” These score lines will give you 1-inch tall sides on the double walled box that you are creating.

2.     Rotate the card stock a 1/4 turn which places your card stock in the landscape position (11 1/8" side across the top of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool).  Again, line up the right edge of your card stock to the 12 inch line on the Scoring Tool, and score at 10” and 11.”

3.     Rotate the card stock again a 1/4 turn which places your card stock in the portrait position with the other 8 5/8" side across the top of the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Line up the right edge of your card stock to the 12 inch line on the Scoring Tool, and score at 10” and 11.”

4.     Rotate the card stock a 1/4 turn a final time, which places your card stock in the landscape position with the other 11 1/8" side across the top of the Scoring Tool.  Line up the right edge of your card stock to the 12 inch line on the Scoring Tool, and this time score at 9" and 10." These scores will create the box side and lid area.

5.     Cut the lines as shown and notch 4 small tabs. These notches will help the sides fold easily and not bind up inside the box.

6.     Pre-fold all scores, using a bone folder to get crisp folds that give a ‘memory’ to your card stock folds. Fold up the box to see how it “fits together.” This will make it easier to see where you need to place the Sticky Strip or glue.

7.     Place a small strip of Sticky Strip on each small flap. Turn paper over and place Sticky Strip on the side, bottom, and lid flaps.

8.     Peal off the red liner and adhere small tabs to inside to create box shape. Next, adhere the bottom flap then both side flaps to the inside of the box. This creates a double walled box, which adds stability.

9.     Adhere the lid flaps to the outside edges of the box. Embellish the lid area however you like.

Here are measurements for a 7/8" tall box rather than 1 inch. This takes advantage of the Simply Scored 1/8 inch measures. You can still easily fit 4 cards and envelopes in it.
Start with 8" x 10 5/8" CS.
Score with short side at top of board at 6 1/4" and 7 1/8" - turn paper 180 degrees and repeat.
Turn paper 90 degrees (long side at top of board) and score at 8 7/8" and 9 3/4".
Turn paper 180 degrees and score at 7 3/4" and 8 5/8".
