Retiring!!!

We're saying goodbye to retiring products from the 2014-2015 annual catalog, but before we do, we're giving everyone an opportunity to order their favorites with discounts up to 50 percent off retail. Retiring products will only be available until June 2, or while supplies last, so now's a great time to get them before they're gone! We're also including the My Digital Studio list, with all products discounted 30 percent off retail. PDF of the retiring list
*Note: Due to high demand for retiring stamps, we'll keep producing retiring stamps until May 26 (not accessories-accessories are only while supplies last).

Monthly Stamping Group

Stamp Your Art Out met today and as usual it was such fun getting together with friends. Kathy brought her Misti to show us. Now Ellene and I have gotta have one! It is a stamp tool and it's hard to explain so I'll just share the link with you. http://mysweetpetunia.com/64-2/ There is a video to show how it works.  Thanks Kathy!!  Stampin' Up!'s new catalog is coming, I want the Misti, I want the kit to build another one of Laura Denison's buildings. I would love to go to an all day crop with friends in Spartanburg. Alas my crafting budget is not big enough! lol I'm blessed to have a nice craft room and toys to play with:)

Diamond Fold Card

I saw this gorgeous card on an Australian Demo's website, Angela Lorenz, and I just had to make it! Problem? Her directions were in metric and I really stink at math, but I was determined!! First, I used an online metric converter to change all measurements to inches. But the fractions came out to things like 3 5/32 and 1 49/64. uhhh I can't work with those kinds of fractions on my paper cutter! So I changed the size of all the pieces to eights, quarters and halves which work better for me. Here are her directions in metric. Thanks Angela!!
First, I made it in the colors below for one of my Sister-in-laws, but I just had to do one in reds and grays too, because they are the favorite colors of one of my BFFs. I made the envelopes with my Envelope Punch Board in coordinating papers:)

Stamps: Love is Kindness, Flowering Flourishes

Card base: cardstock measuring 5 ½ x 11 (cherry cobbler)
Score in half at 5 ½. On the side you will use as the front, score from centre score line to outer edge to create triangle fold

Inside base:
Cardstock 5 ¼ x 5 ¼ (whisper white)
Designer Series Paper 5 x 5 (smoky slate stamped with Flowering Flourishes in basic gray)
These are layered and then adhered on the square part of the base.

Triangle pieces: Cardstock 5 1/8  x 5 1/8   (whisper white)
Designer Series Paper 4 7/8 x 4 7/8  (smoky slate stamped with Flowering Flourishes in smoky slate)
Then cut them corner to corner to get perfect triangles. You only need one of each, layer the 2 pieces together and adhere them to the Triangle part of the base that will be the front of your card

Rectangle panel on front:
Card stock piece 5 ¼ x 3 (cherry cobbler)
Stamped layer 5 x 2 ¾  (whisper white stamped with Flowering Flourishes in smoky slate)
Adhere these together. They will stick out on an angle on the front of your card.

Ovals on top of rectangle panel on front:
Cut two ovals number 4 and number 5 from the Ovals Framelits (smallest oval in the set being number 1)
#5 is cherry cobbler
#4 is the stamped image ‘Love is Kindness’

For the inside panel where Happy Birthday sentiment is:
Cardstock: 4 ¾ x 1 ¾  (whisper white)
Cardstock: 4 ½ x 1 ½  (cherry cobbler)
Stamped layer Cardstock: 4 ¼ x 1 ¼ (whisper white stamped in cherry cobbler with Happy Birthday)
Layer these together then adhere with dimensionals to the bottom square base.

For the inside panel where Sending Wishes sentiment is:
Cardstock: 1 ½ x 2 ½ (whisper white)
1 ¼ x 2 ¼ (cherry cobbler)
1 x 2 (whisper white stamped in cherry cobbler)

Card Ministry

This card design is from Brenda Quintana, and she has a video:) http://qbeesquest.blogspot.com/2015/03/modern-label-punch-cross-card.html
Crosses of Hope Stamp set
Modern Label Punch
Blackberry Bliss ink pad
1.          Cut a piece of white cardstock 3 x 4 ½ turn over to wrong side facing up.
2.          Line up in the corner of a piece of grid paper.
3.          Draw a line at 1 ½ inch, which is the center.
4.          Make a mark ½ inch from the top
5.          Make another mark ¾ inch from the bottom
6.          Draw a tiny arrow to remind which end is the top.
7.          Use the Modern Label punch. From the top, slide it into the punch. Slide the punch all the way in and enter it. The width of the cardstock is about the width of the punch. Punch, now you have the horizontal piece of the cross.
8.          Then line up the punch the other way looking for the little mark at the top. Make sure the mark is in the center on the right of the punch and that the pencil line is directly in the center.
9.          Then line up the punch with the mark you made at the bottom of the card stock. Make sure again that it is centered. Punch once more.
10.      Stamp sentiment on the other side, the right side.
11.      Cut DSP cut a 2 ¾ x 4 ¼
12.      Cut card base 5 ½ x 8 ½ and score at 4 ¼
13.      Cut cs mat 3 ½ x 5
14.      Adhere mat to the card base
15.      Glue/tape DSP to mat
Place 6 Dimensionals on back of cross to adhere and lift up from the DSP layer

The Creation of Adam, Genesis
Card Stock & Papers
Very Vanilla, Elegant Eggplant
Ink
Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
I have a very old stamp of  The Creation of Adam  by Stamp of Excellence. It’s that fresco painting by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling, which illustrates the creation narrative from the Book of Genesis in which God breathes life into Adam. It must be 20 years old and I love it dearly! We first stamped that, then masked it and stamped a background script of the book of Genesis by Stamp Out Cute on it over top. On the inside we used a stamp of the Lord’s prayer.

Stamp Out Cute has gone out of business, and Stamp of Excellence no longer has the Creation of Adam stamp. I'm SO GLAD I kept them!!

Flutterby

Flutterby. Yep, I think we need to change their name. Butterfly? They are not all butter colored, or made of butter... they simply flutter. Flutterby makes much more sense!

Wanna know some really Good news???? The Butterfly thinlits have arrived in the Los Angeles port and are scheduled for delivery to the warehouse at Stampin' Up! this week:)

Orange Explosion and the Little Black Dress

I don't usually make a lot of orange cards. Hmmm wonder why?  I ordered some more yellow red Copic markers last week so I think that's why I've been on an orange kick. I really like the cheerfulness of orange! The Little Black Dress is a retired framelit that I still use and love:)

Easter Treats

I baked up a storm yesterday. I made Carolina Chews, which are kind of like a blonde brownie. I made a batch for my husband to share with the guys at work and a couple batches for the ladies in my Bible study and our Ministers and staff. I used the Berry Basket die decorated with the butterfly thinlits and the spiral flower die. The Fry Box die has a bunny climbing inside to grab the treats. The scripture candy is made with two Hershey nuggets.

Copic Creations

I find coloring soooo relaxing, and using a medium that you need to learn how to blend satisfies that artistic bent I have. I wish I could draw and paint well, but that's not my gift. Thank goodness for art rubber stamps!  I also love the small scale of greeting cards, which allows me to finish something rather than start and stop over several days or weeks. I'd dearly love to take a painting class, but sadly, in my neck of the woods the prices are out of my pocketbook range. Retired teachers' pension in the south is beyond pitiful. I'm not interested in those party type classes where everyone copies the same picture. They are affordable, but I want to learn how to paint on my own, you know? If we ever move to Denver to be near our son, I will be able to take art classes galore. I've checked with the recreation departments and art centers in several of the suburbs:) I sure would miss my friends and my Church though. This is where I've lived most of my life and it's home.
