More New Catalog Peeks

This is the Beautiful World set. The paper is cut using the Scrappy Strip Technique from an Australian Demonstrator, Kylie Bertucci. It looks complicated, but it could not be any easier. You litterally just cut any ole' size/shape and glue it down. See that belt looking thing? That is the new faux suede ribbon, that feels so scrumptious! The slider fits on it perfectly to give it that old world vintage feel.

New Catalog Peeks!!

This suite quickly caught my eye when first looking through the catalog too:) It's called World of Good. Again, I loved it so I bought it ALL: Beautiful World stamp set, World Map dies, Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder, Antiqued Corners and Slides, Faux Suede Trim Brass Foil Sheets, Old World Designer Series Paper. Below the cards, you'll see my sample sheets of the DSP, stamp images and dies.

The ribbon is just such a yummy texture and it fits perfectly into the slides! Oh and let me tell you about the embossing folder, pictures just don't do it justice ya'll. It is the coolest thing. I remember the days when we crumpled paper and distressed it to give it the aged look. This is much better!

Funny mistake story on the second card; on the envelope, I stamped the globe stand upside down. I hated to just throw it away, so I stamped the globe and stand on cardstock, diecut them and glued to the envelope. If you look very closely you can probably see the upside down stand peeking through just a tad lol.

Sneak Peeks From the New Catalog

This is my biggest, best favorite!! I loved all the products in this suite so I bought them all every single thing the stamp set, the dies, the embossing folder, the designer series paper, the laser-cut foil embellishments, and the ribbon!! It all just made me swoon the first time I looked at the catalog. The catalog will be available for customers to order from beginning June 3rd. There are so many other pretty things I'll post it as fast as I can get things made!

The inside of this card is the same mechanism that's in a "Card in the Box" technique.  My card was inspired by fellow demo, Bronwyn Eastley. In my head I knew how this was going to work,  but I had to cut and measure, try it out with old paper, then see what would work. Then readjust the measurements to get it to fit inside the card. It was a good bit of trial and error. So if you'd like a little look at what the process was I have a couple of pictures of that too. I will write up a more detailed tutorial or a video in the very near future. In the meantime, for those adventureous souls who wish to try with measurements they are listed below.

The process: I used cheap Walmart cardstock to make prototypes with until I got the measurements right.

I cut out plenty of leaves, not knowing how many I'd need. I used all the colors found in the DSP so it all coordinates!
I began making these sample squares of DSP to show customers, then discovered it was a valuable tool for me to use when designing cards:)

For the inside planter box mechanism (all measurements in inches)

smaller planter box:
  • cut cardstock (2) 1-1/2 x 2 (sides)
  • cut cardstock (2) 2 x 2-1/2 score at 1/2” from each end with the long side across the top (front & back)
  • DSP (2) 1-1/2 x 1-15/16
larger planter box:
  • cut cardstock (2) 2 x 2 (front& back)
  • cut cardstock (2) 2 x 2-3/4 score at 1/2” at both ends with long side across the top (sides)
  • DSP (2) 1-5/8 x 1-15/16 and (1) 2 x 1-15/16
notes:
miter corners of cardstock on scored ends before gluing
Last piece, lay flat before gluing
glue side of smaller planter to the inside cover of the card

Concentric Shapes Card

A fellow Demo from the UK, Chloe Evans, saw this technique on Insta Gram. I love it! So of course, I had to share it with you and make a tutorial. FREE printed copy. I share all my tutorials for FREE. If you don't have a Stampin' Up! Demo, I'd love to have you place an order with me.

The Layering Circle Dies and the Layering Squares dies from Stampin' Up! You can use any dies with concentric shapes that are symmetrical (if you fold it in half, both sides are the same).

For this card, I used the Layering Circles dies. You need five of them. There are eight clean edged circles in the set. (I number mine with a Sharpie for easier identification. (I used numbers 8, 6, 4, 2, and ¾ inch punch)

Beginning with the largest circle, use every other one, which gives you the four on the top row, for the fifth circle use the 3/4” punch.

Next you cut each circle from a different color of cardstock. You will need two sets, 5 circles in each set, 10 different colors.

The sizes of cardstock in inches needed to die cut each size beginning with the largest is: 3-1/2 x 3-1/2, 3 x 3, 2-1/2 x 2-1/2, 2 x 2 and 1 x 1

Now that you have 10 circles in 10 different colors, 5 different sizes, you are going to glue them as shown below. I've used all the colors in the Brights collection.

The colors used below from largest to smallest are: Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight.

The colors used below from largest to smallest are: Poppy Parade, Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green.

Next, you need to cut both sets in half. Use a tiny pencil tic to mark the center and place on your paper cutter. Since this is 5 layers of cardstock, choose your cutter carefully as you don't want ragged edges. I used my newest Stampin' Up! Trimmer, went slowly and it worked like a charm.

Prepare the greeting strip. Cut black cardstock 1/2 by 4 inches long. Flag the ends with the Triple Banner Punch. Stamp sentiment with Versa Mark and heat emboss with gold emboss powder. Place foam adhesive strips in the middle of the greeting strip.

Select the top of one circle and the bottom of another. Dry fit on your card front for placement, then glue the top one down only.

Next line the foam adhesive strip up next to the bottom of the circles so that the black overlaps just a bit. Then put glue on the bottom piece, and align it up to the bottom of the adhesive strip, again allowing it to overlap just a bit. You want to see some of the smallest circle, don't cover it up. A few glimmer dots just add a nice touch.

Some other color combinations that I've tried:
From largest to smallest
Circle One: Real Red, Mango Melody, Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight
Circle Two: Blueberry Bushel, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron

Instead of an embossed greeting, you could also use a diecut word from glimmer paper and layer it over the black strip.
