Graduation!

Well, apparently, despite having taught school for 30 years, I can not count. I knew we were supposed to make 26 cards for grads at the Card Ministry meeting yesterday. I did cut 26 card bases... but I did not put together the last 10 of all the things to go on them! Geesh. So I just made ten more. On the bright side, I got to play around and do more designs:) I love that part:) I used a bunch of retired colors too:)

For the Fisherman

My son loves to fish, and lives all the way across the country, so I made a fishing card and one to remind him of the South Carolina beaches, and that he's a Southern boy.
I used the By The Tide stamp set, colored pencils, and the Fancy Fan embossing folder.
Thanks to Cecile Ortiz for this idea:)

Card Ministry

Our church, St. John's United Methodist, sends birthday cards to seniors, as well as various thinking of you, sympathy etc. I started a Card Ministry where several ladies in our congregation make handmade cards for our Ministers and staff to send. It has been so well received and makes me very happy to be able to contribute using a hobby that I dearly love. There is also a group who makes Christening Blankets for our babies when they are baptized, who we made cards for too:)  We even made graduation cards for our seniors and some for those graduating at the Methodist Children's Home.
Some ladies gave  us some buttons that will be so lovely on these cards:)
Here are the cards we're making this month.

I kept looking at this and thought something was a bit off, so here's another take on it. I used Crumb Cake card stock on this one, and I think the warmer tone looks better:-)

By The Sea, By The Sea, By The Beautiful Sea...

It's a good thing you can't hear me singing :-) lol. I love working with colored pencils and blending with Gamsol. Gasp! I just realized that I made the pattern on the embossing folder go the wrong way to look like waves! arrgh!! This card is for my son, who moved to Denver when he graduated college. That Carolina boy is now living in a land-locked stated, and you should see what those poor people call lakes! They are really little bitty ole' ponds - bless their hearts, they don't know real lakes let alone the ocean. I think I'll add a greeting that says thinking of you.

I used the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack along with the Adorning Accents edgelits to make the trim on the sweater and on the shirt.

New Colors! Yipee!!

I've had quit a busy couple weeks with family visiting and such. I had such a wonderful visit with my sister-in-law:-) Right now, I'm making bookmarks for my customers to show our pretty new colors. I still have to add the insides to the smoky slate flutterby, as I neglected to order that ink pad. Boy have I ever got a long list for that first new catalog order!

I've spent the last three days totally glued to my new toy -a  tablet. I got a Nexus 10. It is the bomb! Using the touch screen makes me feel like a member of Star Trek or The Jetsons:-)  The camera takes amazing pictures of artwork and crafts; better than my Canon or my photo scanner. I don't understand why, but I'm sure happy about it. With my Canon, I always had to edit color and light in Photoshop, but with the Nexus tablet, I don't have to edit a thing, except some cropping. There's even a good photo editing program installed on it that can be used right from the photo viewer. Here are some more shots taken with it. (I've been taking pictures of previously photographed things to compare.)
