Like any avid reader, I collect books and adore anything related to books! So it's no surprise that I have always enjoyed pretty bookmarks and have been making them for as long as I can remember. I smile thinking about my parents who grew up during the depression. They often used kleenex, an old envelope, or anything handy for their bookmarks. They fostered my love of reading at a very early age, so these bookmark cards are another way I honor them. By creating them with my own two hands, I'm not contributing to the glut of Chinese manufactured stuff we seem to be spending so much money on these days.
Make a bookmark card or two, or three... or lots and send them to friends and relative for a lovely way to let them know you are thinking of them. I've recently sent bookmark cards to my Great Nieces and now I'm going to send some to the ladies in my Bible Study.
These two bookmark cards were made the ultra gorgeous Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper. The Spotlight on Nature dies provide all the additional embellishments needed for a beautiful card for a friend to cherish.
2 teaspoons Glycerin 4 teaspoons
Distilled Water 1/4 teaspoon Isopropyl, Denatured or Rubbing
Alcohol
Mix all ingredients together and place
them in a small glass container. You can pull out the tips of the pens
with pliers or tweezers.
Put the tips of the pens in the
solution and let them soak for about 5 minutes. Put the tips back
into the blender pens and you’re good to go.
To make it last longer, take the
blender pen apart and refill the fiber shaft. Gently remove
the tip with tweezers and set it aside. Next, use
one of
the methods below:
Tap the pen on your work surface
a few times, and a white plastic-covered, fiber-filled tube should
come out. If it won't come all the way out, gently drip bits
of the Glycerin mixture into the pen shaft until no more mixture
will go in.
Use an eye dropper to drip the
mixture into the pen shaft
Use a veterinary syringe
You must use Distilled Water
because it has no impurities. Tap water will cause your pens
to become moldy inside.
Rubbing alcohol is a
generic term that can be either denatured alcohol or isopropyl
alcohol.
Dual-tipped pens filled with
specialized solution for easier blending. Use with Basic White
Cardstock or Shimmery White Cardstock and Classic Stampin’ Ink. 3
acid-free, xylene-free pens.
We had our monthly Stampin' Class today and it was such a joy to be with my stamping friends! I always have a good time with them:) We did it all: heat embossing, dry embossing, watercoloring, coloring with Stampin' Blends and we played with the new Metallic Rub-Ons.
