Flutterby
I just love these punches:) I got the idea for this layout from Chiaki Haverstick. The first one was done using Sycamore Street designer series paper from the Sale-A-Bration that just ended. The second one was made with Twitterpated designer series paper.

Terrific Thursday!
I've been busy preparing for a technique class and the card ministry at my church. This first card is just for me, just for fun:) The second one will go on one of the display boards at church.
On a separate note, I gotta tell you what Cricket has been up to. Cricket is one of our Australian Shepherds. Aussies are herding dogs, and Cricket does this very well when we go on daily walks. She just naturally herds me too! Well, somebody forgot to tell her that she is not a hunting dog. While walking the other day, she flushed a bird and then proceeded to display the perfect hunting 'point.' Of course being the commensurate Aussie owner, I gushed and praised her about how naturally smart she was. She must have learned that lesson very well because the next day I came home from Physical Therapy to find Cricket sitting proudly next to a dead blue jay. You may remember last year she killed the Easter Bunny. That action resulted in a couple weeks of walks where each time we saw a bunny, I held her by the collar and carefully explained how cute they were and that she was not to hunt them. Result: no more dead bunnies. I told you Aussies are super intelligent. Our UPS man even agrees. The other day he had another driver riding with him and as he introduced our dogs to the man, he said, "Cricket reads on a third grade level and Sydney is learning algebra." Yep, today's walk will include a lesson on not killing birds, simply point at them. I bet your mother told you it was not polite.
This design came from Anne Marie Hile. See, I'm trying to teach myself to like Summer Starfruit, so when I saw this pretty design, I had to make it. I don't have a sentiment on it yet, because I'm not sure what I'll use it for... Easter, Birthday, Get Well. The bow got squished on the scanner, but popped right back out.

This design came from Paula Dobson. At first I used an embossing ink pad and it looked grainy instead of nice and crisp. Then I tried my Versamark pad and voila! Much better results.

Four of us met at my Friend Pam's house today and created. It was such FUN! The first three were made using things from Pam's stash, the last one I made a few days ago with my new Dress Up bundle.

Oh Baby!
Now I'm on the baby channel. Why you ask? No babies due around here, I'm too old and my son is still a bachelor. My church gives christening blankets to each baby when they are baptized and we're going to add a pretty hand-made card with them.
This is the first dresser card I've made and I have to share a link to fellow Demonstrator, Jackie Topa. She has directions on how to make one and how to make tiny hangers as well. Thanks Jackie!

Olde Tyme Faire
Don't you just love FREE things? I have been having the most fun creating things with all my FREE stuff from the Sale-A-Bration brochure:) I'm still at it too! I have a few more ideas I want to create, then I'll move on to some things from the Spring and regular catalogs.
I tried something new with these two cards. I wanted to change the look of the safety pin and Builder Brad to match the vintage feel of the cards. So I tried embossing them and it worked! I know this is not an original idea, I'm not claiming to invent anything here lol! I had some old embossing powder that is called "Bronze Patina." It was made by a company that mixed their own recipes of embossing powders to make unusual mixes. They have long since gone out of business, but we can follow their lead by making our own custom mixes of embossing powders. Since I tried it first with Versamark ink and the old embossing powder and discovered that it worked, I played with some of the colors that Stampin' Up! has to try and replicate that bronze patina look. I used Tempting Turquoise, Gold and Early Espresso. If you try this, be sure to use tweezers to handle the metal you are embossing, cause it sure gets hot! Yeah, I know that from personal experience (rolls eyes). Also, I embossed the tweezers, but I managed to rub it all off. Just think, you could use any color or mix of colors and make the Builder Brands any color you like! Wild Wasabi for St. Patrick's Day, Melon Mambo for Easter...
I have to share with you something I'm very excited about. I have an appointment with my minister on Monday to discuss forming a card making group. I know that ministers/churches send out a lot of cards, get well, sympathy and to shut-ins. Our church also has an annual fund-raiser called The Apple Fest and we have a Relay For Life Team. I'm thinking that cards could be made and sold for both events. I'm sure Rev. Howle will have some other ideas too. I'm excited to be doing something so useful with the cards I make and have a chance to share stamping with new friends:) I sure hope it works out - that there are enough people in the congregation who are interested.
