College Theme

Football in the south is a big, no HUGE thing, so I'm going to capitalize on that! I've made bunches of post it note holders and junior legal pad holders with Carolina college football team colors. Purple and orange for Clemson and Garnet and Black for USC. They are all done except the packaging on the USC items. I'm waiting for a rooster punch to come in the mail. Then I'll pretend it is a Carolina Gamecock and glue them on to cover up the staples.

I've been up since 6:00. Why? I have absolutely no earthly idea! I've been working but not with stuff that has much to show for the time. Plus I used nearly an entire can of DH's black spray paint to paint a science fair board.... and it looks like a 2 year old did it. Seriously - it's all splotchy. I mean how hard is it to spray paint something anyway??? I just looked online at Hobby Lobby and I can buy a new board for 4 dollars! geesh, I'm such a doofuss!

I've made 3D birdhouses out of cardstock, birds, trees, etc for that display board. No, you can't see it yet because I'm not done with it. When I'm all finished, I'll show you:)

Christmas Crafts

I've been busy making alllll kinds of things! I kinda fly around flitting from one project to another:)

I wanted to try an ornament made from decorative paper. I thought less steps would equal less time right? Well, yeah, but I like the stamped ones better.

My friend Deborah and I were making some of these for the centers of our ornaments, when Deborah put two together facing out and said, "hey these are pretty enough to be ornaments all by themselves!" She is so right! Which is why I made a few more. They are really simple using the die cut. I embellished them with what ever I could find laying around.

I LOVE LOVE the Stampin' Up! Clearance Rack!! This Tangerine Tango ribbon is the perfect color for Clemson! I paired it with Elegant Eggplant and voila, instant college colors for the craft shows:) The punch was at the bottom of my drawer. It's old, old. I don't know who made it, and it might be a wolf paw, but it looks like a tiger paw to me:) I found a rooster punch for the Carolina Gamecocks and will use that with Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black for Carolina colors. I'll be all set for the college sports fans in our area who attend the craft shows!!

Kids Dream of a White Christmas...

so they can go sledding! I saw this gorgeous 3D sled that Melanie Schulenberg constructed as a 3D stand alone ornament. I have searched and searched her blog and I'll be darned if I can find it. I'm pretty sure it was the illustration of a pattern for purchase. This woman is amazingly talented by the way. You've GOT to go visit her web site. Anyway, Melanie used the Bird Builder punch on her 3D model so I decided to make a flat version and put it on a card. I drew the sled, then needed that woodgrain stamp, which I don't have yet. <big gasp!> So I had this distressing pattern thing and used that instead. Our woodgrain stamp would be much better!! I punched out the bird, and found a couple of brads and some twine and there it went. I really love this card, although it isn't anywhere near as cool as Melanie's 3D ornament.

After drawing the sled on Soft Suede, use the Wood Grain stamp in Early Espresso (I used this old distressing thing). The runners are Riding Hood Red, The card is Cherry Cobbler with an Old Olive layer which was embossed with Northern Flurry embossing folder then sponged with some white ink. I can't remember if Melanie's bird was red with a tan wing or tan with a red wing, but I choose River Rock for the bird and Cherry Cobbler for the wing. I sponged the bird and the sled around the edges to give it depth and used dimensionals to add a bit of a 3D look.

I really like this card and I hope it does justice to Melanie's ornament. I've got to go type to her and find it!

Wheat & Lavender

This is for the Color Me Beautiful challenge blog that my friend AnnMarie and I developed. I'm so fortunate to have such a good friend to work on something like this. AnnMarie is creative and fun with lots of energy. She's such a delight, I sure wish we lived closer. I keep telling her she is and I must be twins separated at birth because we are SO much alike. We both have amazing mothers though... maybe THEY were twins separated at birth!  lol
