Session 7 God's Final Intent

Revelation 21-22 reveals that God's final intent is to restore humanity to a state of fellowship with Him, free from the consequences of sin and death, in a New Jerusalem that embodies a perfect dwelling place with Him.

In the Climber Metaphor, the climber represents humanity's fallen state, needing a series of rescues and interventions to restore him to health. This metaphor illustrates how God acts through covenants and ultimately Jesus to redeem humanity from sin.

The Tree of Life, which reappears in the New Jerusalem, symbolizes eternal life, healing, and the restoration of access to God's presence, akin to its role in Eden.

In Ezekiel 47 we are introduced to something wonderfully new - a river. It begins as a trickle in the Holy of Holies but eventually becomes a raging river flowing East through the desert toward the Dead sea. The river transforms the deserts of Judah into a garden and even turns the Dead Sea (which can support no marine life fresh). So this River brings all that is good and nothing that is evil. Rather, this river is a River of Life: "everything will live where the river goes." Ezekiel 47:9.

Originating in the throne room of God the Holy of Holies it brings life back to a fallen earth. Ezekiel 47:12 by the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail they will bear every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing. Hmmm...when did we last encounter a tree of life?

The New Jerusalem - this brings us at last to Revelation 21- 22 the end of the story. The biblical author is describing heaven as a new earth. The garden has been restored, the primordial deep (“chaos”) has been defeated, and Ezekiel's City/Temple is being lowered from the heavens to serve as the residents of the redeemed. Hear the voice from the throne ringing out into the silence and grief of Adam's wasted world: “I am making all things new!” Revelations 21:5 The Creator speaks and the earth and its inhabitants are finally free.

Healing has come; mourning is past; death is no more. This is the New Jerusalem purified and whole. And with the New Jerusalem comes the presence, and God himself shall be among them.

Then he showed me a river of the water of Life clear as Crystal coming from the throne of God and of the lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond servants will serve him and they will see his face and his name will be on their foreheads and there will no longer be any night and they will not have need of the light of the lamp nor the light of the sun because the Lord God will illuminate them and they will reign forever and ever.

The New Jerusalem (what we know as “heaven”) is all that the city of the man in Eden was meant to be. In fact it is Eden a fruit-filled paradise animated by a cosmic River and graced by the tree of life.

Here, once again, the unhindered presence of God and the unhindered maturation of a sinless humanity coexist.

God's original intent is his final intent. Eden was the perfect plan, and God has never had any other. His goal was that the people of God might dwell in the place of God, enjoying the presence of God. This is all our heavenly father has ever wanted for us. And everything that lies between Eden's gate and the new Jerusalem, the bulk of our bibles, is in essence a huge rescue plan. In fact, we could summarize the plot line of the Bible into one cosmic question: " how do we get Adam back into the garden? " In Genesis 3 humanity was driven out; and Revelation 21 through 22 they are welcomed home.

Rock Climber Metaphor

Although designed to live out their lives in Eden, humanity chose rebellion instead. The result was the fall with all of its horrible repercussions. Like a rock climber having fallen from a great height, Adam now lies broken and bloody on the ledge of a cliff - too far from the top or bottom for a simple rescue it will take a series of rescues to bring this climber to safety. Let's pursue this metaphor for a moment. A climber who has experienced this sort of accident is too injured to do anything to help himself; he is probably unconscious. So someone is going to have to repel down that precipice to reach him in his need. That someone will need to do emergency first aid, brace the climber's neck and strap his battered body into a litter so that he can be hoisted back up or down the face of the cliff. But this is only the beginning of the rescue. An airlift will be needed to get this man to a hospital. Emergency surgery will be necessary to stop the bleeding, remove the irreparable organs and splint the bones. And now the real vigil begins. Placed in ICU on a respirator and iv, will our climber recover? the rescue of Adam is much the same as this metaphor. The Bible teaches us that redemptive history did not happen in one fell swoop. Rather, God has been leading humanity back to Eden by means of a sequence of steps, a series of rescues, a series of covenants. To mix metaphors, with a covenant of Noah the paramedic successfully reaches the fallen climber; with the covenant of Abraham triage is done and the climber is lowered down the cliff; with the covenants of Moses and David the airlift is accomplished and surgery begins; with a covenant of Jesus the surgery is successful and the vigil begins dash will our rescued climber endure to the end? The rest of this book is dedicated to detailing each of the covenantal administrations of this great rescue plan. Each step of the story, each state of the rescue may be organized under one of six covenants. Figure 5.6

Even in the New Jerusalem are the bookends of redemptive history. God's original intent is his final intent and everything that lies between is one extraordinary rescue plan.

Christmas Cards

I sure do love the colors in this Traditions of  Christmas Designer Series Paper! I like traditional Christmas colors with a bit of the unexpected, and that's just what this paper delivers. The Secret Sea with Real Red just makes my heart sing:)

Four in One Technique

This is a fun technique that allows you to make four cards at once. I call it the "Four in One Technique." Yeah, very clever name right? lol  To make it, start off with a 10″ x 7-1/2″ sheet of cardstock that you score down the middle horizontally and vertically. Then you stamp around the edges In a controlled/random pattern. Think collage-ish style as you select stamps. Fellow demo, Mary Mary Nabe used the textured notes stamp set when she did this technique. Those turned out beautifully, but I needed Christmas cards so looked through my stash both current and retired and selected four stamps from different sets. I used the ink colors found in the Designer Paper. After you've stamped around the edges of each quadrant, you trim right on the score lines which gives you four card layers. You adhere these layers to card bases then add a greeting. And voila, you have a pretty card. To jazz mine up a bit, I REALLY decorated the inside, and the envelope flap as well.

inside of card has DSP too

Stamp Sets: Christmas Greenery and Several retired sets

Ink Pads: Secret Sea, Real Red, Old Olive, Pool Party

  • Basic White for stamping:10″ x 7-1/2″

    • stamp, then cut on score lines (5″ x 3-3/4″) to make four cards

Tent Card

I learned how to make this tent card from Fellow Demo, Robyn Pike and just had to case it! What a pretty fun fold which is also easy to make. The panel with the DSP is simply affixed to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals. I just made sure to line it up with the card base so that the height was the standard 5-1/2".

Stationery Gift Set

This project has been a labor of love and I've had bunches of fun creating it! To make this stationery gift set, I followed a video tutorial by May May Made It. I used two product groups to create mine so that the images and colors would coordinate. The mini slimline cards are new to me and they are kinda cool y'all! I made mine a bit larger than May May did hers. I cut the cards 6-1/2" x 6-1/4" then scored at 3-1/4" which makes a 3-1/4" x 6-1/4" card. Needless to say, Stampin' Up! doesn't sell an envelope for that size card, but you can find them on Amazon.

My Bible Study Christmas Party we always have a Chinese Gift Exchange and this will be my gift this year. There are many different things you can include in the pockets of the tote. I chose a few different things than May May included in hers, and that's the cool thing... there are so many possibilities!

In my Stationery Tote I chose to include the following:

  • Two different Post It Pad booklets
  • Postage
  • Bookmarks
  • A calendar
  • A collection of stamped sentiments with Tear and Tape on the back for easy attachment to the small slimline cards
  • Six slimline cards and envelopes
  • Eight A2 cards and envelopes
  • A mini legal pad cover with pen and pocket
  • Perpetual Birthday Calendar

Autumn Wishes

This is last week's post and video.  I'm not feeling too well right now, but I will get better. There are two versions of this card with different ribbon and sizes. I was changing the measurements until I got it how I wanted it, and of course when making something new, there were mistakes to correct.

Breast Cancer Month

My video posts have been off schedule lately and since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to let you know why.

I have been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. I had surgery and will begin radiation treatments soon. have been good about getting yearly mammograms and that was never so important than this year. I got that call, suspicious spots were found. I thought they were probably calcification again, but called for an appointment to the Breast Heath Center at a large hospital nearby. I was given an appointment the next week. The oncologist wanted to do a biopsy that week. Then the diagnosis came. I had breast cancer. Surgery was scheduled for the following week. Praise God we caught it early and the surgeon was able to remove it all. I'm in the midst of having tests done to prepare for radiation treatments. I may be a few days off on posting, as this week, (instead of my usual Monday, it's Saturday) but I will keep trying to maintain a schedule:) It's good for me to stay busy and stamping is FUN!

Because breast cancer has touched far too many lives, including mine. I am now a breast cancer survivor, and I am carrying that gratitude into four actions:

  1. Reminding everyone I know to get their yearly mammograms
  2. Using The Stampin' Up! Love and Courage stamp set, which was designed to uplift and comfort those affected by breast cancer. Every purchase includes a $3 donation from Stampin’ Up! toward global breast cancer support efforts.
  3. Developing a program at my church to make Chemo Bags for those undergoing treatment. These pink canvas tote bags will include several items to comfort recipients such as a pink, soft cuddly throw, body lotion for sensitive skin, a soft head cap, a book of devotionals by Lysa TerKeurst, aluminum-free clean deodorant, organic anti-nausea lozenges, lip ointment, pink tumbler for drinks etc.
  4. Letting people know of fundraising for cancer research. My experience has been so much better than that of people I know who went through it 20 years ago. I am so blessed and very thankful.

As I am going through treatment, friends and family have lifted me up. A sweet friend gave me a chemo bag,. Friends brought meals to us after my surgery. So soooo many people lifted me up in their prayers! That support has meant the world to me!

Because of this experience, I know how much every single dollar that has been given to cancer research matters! Besides the vital research that has helped countless women survive, donations also help provide:

  • Treatment and support for patients when insurance or money falls short
  • Resources and programs that bring comfort, dignity, and hope
  • Community and outreach so no one feels alone in this fight

I've done some research to determine the best charitable organizations. I specifically looked at transparency and accountability, financial efficiency, community engagement, and the amount of money raised. Two of the top organizations who raise money for breast cancer research are The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The American Cancer Society. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide they announced a record-breaking investment of $74.75 million for breast cancer research in 2025-2026.

Falling Into Autumn

Spring has always been my favorite season by far. I'm a huge flower person, add to that all the rebirth in spring just makes my heart sing. However there is something kind of soothing about fall as well. Cooler weather after summer's brutal heat is so soothing. The birds are active this time of year too. My favorite song bird, the Mocking Bird, is busy singing up a storm. I've recently learned that they are very territorial, and sing to mark their feeding grounds in the fall. My dog and I love to sit on the deck and listen to all the birds singing.

This card captures the essence of fall perfectly. I've stamped the acorn image from Amber Autumn in Memento Black ink, then colored with Stampin' Blends.  I then used Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out the image.

Next, I applied Real Red, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Mossy Meadow inks with Blending Brushes in "splotches" of color on a Basic Beige panel. Next, I diecut the colored panel with the large leafy die.

I diecut the Early Espresso card base with a rectangle from Stylish Shapes to creat a frame. Then I embossed the framed card base with the Timber Embossing Folder. I adhered the diecut leafy panel to a plain Basic Beige panel, and adhered those to the inside of the card base frame.

I mounted the stamped acorn image to a circle cut from the Stylish Shapes dies and attached it to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. To finish it all off, I added Streaked Dots and Wink of Stella.

New Packaging: Stamp & Die Organizers

The shift begins with November 2025 Online Exclusives.

Sometimes change can be hard, but as we use something new we often find that we love it! Take the new colors Secret Sea and Cloud Cover for example. When we first saw them online, several of us in my Demonstrator group were skeptical of these colors thinking they were two more shades of gray. Then they came in the mail and wowee! We found how gorgeous and versatile they were!! Secret Sea especially, it's not just a darker shade of Night of Navy. It has a different tone altogether and it is supremely beautiful!!!

When we first learned aobut the new stamp and die organizers, I decided to embrace the change and quickly converted alllll of my stamps to this new system, and I am totally loving it! The amount of space my stamps and dies now take up is so significant making my craft room flow so much better and feel happier.

Catch the vision—  First, take a look at the post about my Mini Craft Room Makeover here: https://scmagnolia.blogspot.com/2025/09/craft-room-mini-make-over.html

Look at all this beautiful low profile space!!

I want to highlight the benefits of moving in this storage direction! Here are a few of them:

  • The profile is slim (5-5/8" x 9") and takes up less space.

  • With printed artwork on the front (for dies, too!), you can flip through and quickly find what you’re looking for.

  • It’s now easier to store coordinating stamps and dies together.

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Ribbon Wranglers

To keep your ribbon from unwinding and making a mess, make these Ribbon Wranglers! A simple fix with a strip of cardstock and you will have no more messy ribbon spools! I've done this to all of my ribbon and they are now wrangled into submission! PDF directions

All you need are:

  • glue
  • Thick Basic White cardstock
  • scissors
  • Hole Punch Assortment
Cutting Thick Basic White Cardstock
  • Regular Size Ribbon Spools: cut cardstock 1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Wide Ribbon Spools: 1/2” x 8-1/2”
  • Thread Spools: 1/2” x 2-1/4” mark it in the center

Hole Punch Assortment  https://www.stampinup.com/products/hole-punch-assortment?demoid=2109078

  1. Insert cardstock into hole on ribbon spool, leave about one inch sticking out on the other side.

  2. Fold cardstock around the spool, creating crease marks along the edges of the spool. Allow some overlap, then trim off excess.

  3. With a pencil, mark the center of the cardstock the width of the spool.

  4. Use punch out a slit where pencil line is.

  5. Even up crease lines and crease well.

  6. Reinsert cardstock strip into ribbon spool and glue where the ends overlap.

  7. With the end of the ribbon on your right, insert ribbon into the slit shaped hole towards your left. Pull tight. Slide ribbon gizmo away from the ribbon end to shorten length of ribbon hanging out.

Thread Spool:

  • For a spool you make it a little differently. You just create a little cap that you can place on the end and twist this to tighten it up.

  • With a new spool, there is just the tiniest bit of spool to work with. It's easier to get a spool that is almost gone to make them for newer spools that already have so much thread on them.

  1. Cut cardstock to 1/2” x 2-1/4” and mark it in the center. Using the 1/8" hole punch to create the hole.

  2. Wrap the cap around tightly and glue. Hold for a few seconds to allow glue to dry.

  3. Take the little cap off. Thread the Linen Thread or Baker's Twine through the center of the cap, around the end then down the through the hole you punched.

  4. Place the cap back on the spool and twist it until .

  5. If there is a lot of thread, you might want to hand twist it. As you twist, it kind of locks into place.
