Butterfly Kisses

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.

Work of Art

I had some left overs to put together after class on Friday, so I decided to try something a different for the card in pink and coral swishes.  Instead of using the modeling paste, I punched butterflies out of Stampin' Up! gold embossed vellum. I kinda like how it turned out.

Stamp Your Art Out!

My monthly group met today and we had a blast with a new technique and chatting of course:) We used modeling paste, but it didn't come from a store. I found a recipe online and made it myself. It saved a few bucks, which leaves more money to buy stamps with right???

Stars Decorative Mask, Modeling paste, Painters’ Tape, Scraper, putty knife, or an old plastic card

  1. Stamp swooshes
  2. tape off a small section of the Stars Decorative Mask
  3. Place card stock under the decorative mask and position over swooshes as desired
  4. Tape mask in place with painters’ tape
  5. Squeeze a small amount of modeling paste onto the mask.
  6. Spread the modeling paste evenly over the mask.
  7. Gently lift off the mask and allow to dry.

Modeling Paste Recipe

½ cup Baking Soda

2 Tablespoons Elmer’s glue

1-2 Tablespoons White Acrylic Paint

In an air tight container, put baking soda, glue, and acrylic paint.  Stir to get a smooth consistency (some water may be necessary - the amount of water you add will depend on the heaviness of the texture you are looking for). The mixture keeps well in the air tight container for a few weeks. If some of the moisture is floating on top, just give it a stir and it will be good to go!

Flutterby Easel

This required some fussy cutting, but I'm okay with that because I like the way it turned out. I traced around the butterfly thinlits on the new Watermelon Wonder cardstock. I first made the cutout layer from vellum, but decided Very Vanilla looked better.

You've Got This

I LOVE this new stamp set! It will be available when the new catalog goes live on June 2nd. I just adore this color pairing of Lost Lagoon with the new Mint Macaron:)
I learn all kinds of interesting things on the Stampin' Up! Demo board. For instance there are two types of cookies, a macaron and a macroon. I didn't know there was a difference. Because of our new color, Mint Macaron, I now know.

Macarons are made of almond meringue cookies sandwiched together with buttercream, ganache, or jam.
macaron is pronounced Mack-ah-ron (sounds like the name Ron)

A coconut macaroon is a drop cookie made of egg whites, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut. They are most commonly dipped in chocolate, as well. This style of macaroon is most commonly found in Italian bakeries, and in many bakeries throughout the U.S.
macaroon is pronounced Mack-ah-roon (sounds like kangaroo).

Card Ministry

We made 51 cards this month! whew!!The first card has two versions. I had originally intended to use sponge daubers to apply the inks directly to the stamps. Then we decided that it would be easier for our Seniors to read if we stamped in on solid color. So we switched to the second design.  We stamped both thank you and happy birthday on the next two cards. That way the church staff has more options. Next month we will made graduation and sympathy along with a few more birthdays.
