Card Ministry

We made three styles of birthday cards for the seniors in our congregation yesterday. I have pictures of two of them. I always have such fun with the ladies in our group, they are wonderful! Betsy, the potstickers were a big hit and Deb, the pork tenderloin is in the crock pot:)

Starburst Technique

Horizontal Format

1. Cut 4 pieces of DSP that are 1 ½” x 4”
2. Then cut each piece diagonally on the paper trimmer. You now have 8 triangles of DSP.
3. Cut 5” x 2 ¾” piece of scrap cardstock, mark the center of the long side
4. Cover entire piece with glue
5. Place first triangle on the right of the center line with the point down. Then the next triangle on the left side of the center line. Place remaining triangles.
6. Trim all the excess DSP that is hanging of the cardstock scrap you just covered.
7. Cut 5 x 3 ¾” coordinating color cardstock panel, and adhere the starburst panel to it.
8. Stamp greeting on the bottom, add ribbon to cover edges and to add embellishment.

Vertical Format

1. Cut 3 pieces of DSP that are 1 ½” x 4”
2. Then cut each piece diagonally on the paper trimmer. You now have 6 triangles of DSP.
3. Cut 3 ½” x 3 ¾” piece of scrap cardstock, mark the center of the long side
4. Cover entire piece with glue
5. Place first triangle on the right of the center line with the point down. Then the next triangle on the left side of the center line. Place remaining triangles.
6. Trim all the excess DSP that is hanging of the cardstock scrap you just covered.
7. Use two of these cut off pieces to fill in the last two spaces in the starburst.
8. Cut 5 x 3 ¾” coordinating color cardstock panel, and adhere the starburst panel to it.
9. Stamp greeting on the bottom, add 5/8” x 3 ¾” strip of cardstock and/or ribbon to cover edges and to add embellishment.

Separate Page for Sales and Specials

Have  you noticed that I now have a separate page for sales and specials? Stampin' Up! has been bursting with great deals this year and there is a lot to keep up with. I also wanted to avoid having ads interrupt your reading of my blog. I know some days you just aren't interested in that right? You just wanna get busy seeing what I've been doing. Well, at least that's what I think you think, cause that's how I feel. I follow several other Stampin' Up! Demos' blogs and I really don't like to see the ads all the time. I just want to get on with looking at the pretty things my friends are creating and reading about what's going on in their lives.

There are going to be some HUGE DEALS going on this fall, so watch my "New Products and Sales" page often. I also let  you know when the clearance rack has new things added, like uhh right now!!! I simply love sales don't you?

Lollypop Present Revisited

I'm back:-)  Here is the improved version. I like it, but to sell for $1 or $1.50 it takes too much time and too much in the way of materials. It would be a cute gift for kids though.

1. Cut four pieces of cardstock 2 ⁷/₈ inch square.
2. Cut four pieces of dsp 2 ³/₄ inch square.
3. Adhere the dsp to each piece of cardstock.
4. Punch an ornament shape in the center of each one. Use the old ornament punch for blow pops or the new ornament punch could work for Tootsie pops.
5. Fold each square in half and crease with a bone folder.
6. Glue the back sides together: half of one to the half of another. Be sure to insert the sucker before gluing the last side. Add a bow or two to the top and you have a Present pop:-)

This is the style I'll make to sell at the craft show.

Football, Friends, NASCAR and Crafting Make a Great Weekend

What a weekend! I am a huge fan of college football and have been an Alabama fan since I was in high school. I wanted to study history there so badly, but it was a little too far from home for this Daddy's Girl. I've been a Clemson fan since my son went to school there. Alabama won yesterday yay! Clemson lost. Badly, very badly. Oh who am I trying to kid, they got waxed. NASCAR at Talladega today and my boy Kyle Busch finished sixth:( Disappointing, yes, but we had a nice evening with friends. We had great food including shrimp fresh off the boat.

Here are a couple of things I made today. The tea caddy is for our church fall festival and the suckers are for my craft show, as soon as I decide which design to use. The one with the Santa is a style I've seen on other blogs. The other one is my own design. It's supposed to look like a present. I hate to put a lot of work into something you can only sell for a dollar, so I'm tempted to go with the Santa pop, but anything 3D always appeals to me. I'm going to try one with some dsp and see how I like that. Last year I made snowman soup in actual soup cans with labels I designed. I thought they were so cute but they did not sell well at all. So this year I went to a more traditional design and will go with a lower price.

Fall Fun

I love fall! College football, NASCAR chase and craft shows! I have a big craft show coming up, so I've been creating things like mad. I made tealight snowmen and birthday cakes, and the Christmas character boxes in the last two weeks.

I made a photo book for my son a while back, but it was too froo froo for a guy. Here is the original. I removed the cver, made it into a card and made a new more manly cover. I put it in the mail a couple days ago. I hope he likes it.
