Flowers and Copics!

Well, I am officially a Copic convert. I have resisted these wonderful alcohol markers because of the expense, but I really did want some.  My darling son gave me some for Christmas!! Yes, I've already added to my collection too! lol

I love this new stamp set from the new Occasions Mini catalog!! The Watercolor Wonder designer series paper is so soft and pretty too.

I've been watching video tutorials, reading blogs and bought the book, Copic Coloring Guide by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker. I've used three different papers to see which allows me to blend the best and I prefer Xpress It Blending Card. The first card below had some issues with bleeding colors, so I used some blue chalk to try to disguise it. That was my very first image colored with my new markers. The second card, was done with the Xpress It Blending Card.

Card Ministry

Yesterday was the first meeting of the Card Ministry at my church and I had such fun! I wanted to use my rubber stamping hobby in some way that would benefit St. John's. I asked our minster and the Director of Discipleship Resources what type of cards were sent to the congregation. It turns out that they send a quite a few for various reasons. I thought by forming a group of ladies to create beautiful hand-made cards it would give us the opportunity for fellowship while creating something for others to enjoy. Our first group was small, but I'm confident it will grow. Yesterday we made 30 cards. I'm excited that we already have donations of card stock, now I'm working on envelopes.
Our purpose is to provide hand-made greeting cards to the Church to use for:
  • Shut-ins
  • Get Well
  • Senior Birthdays
  • New Babies (to go with the Christening blankets given at Baptisms)
  • Sympathy
  • Fundraising efforts such as Honduras and Apple Fest
I only have one to show, because the rest are in the hands of our church staff:)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here are the last two Valentines, for the men in my life. The frogs went to my son and the mushy one is for my husband.
This is the lovely surprise I got from my Secret Sis, in the Valentine's Day Swap for the Pink Pajama Party Girls Blogging group. I had such fun opening the box and I LOVE all the stuff:) Isn't that heart shaped box just gorgeous? It's full of pretty lace too (big sigh) Pearl brads, decorative clothespins, a cool bookmark, some library book cards, gorgeous paper pack, a beautiful Valentine and wonderful hand cream. How did she know that my hands are constantly dry lately??
I ate the candy right away cause I was starving after Physical Therapy lol!!
THANK YOU DORLENE!!!

Valentines

I'm nearly done, I have three Valentines left to make! I'm sending them to family and friends who live far away. It's one of the ways I keep in touch with everyone.

I have seen something like this first one on Pinterest somewhere. I'm not sure how it was different because it's been a while ago. Anyway, it was in my head, so I made it.

Feeling Sentimental

Yeah, I am feeling sentimental today. I've been looking at pictures of my son who is now grown and moved away from home. He has a terrific job and great friends. He absolutely loves where he lives, but I sure do miss him like crazy. We text and talk on the phone thank goodness. God bless the Wright brothers for the invention of airplanes too! I'm really looking forward to healing from knee surgery so that I can go hiking with him when he comes to visit this spring. I made this card to send him just to say hello and let him know how often we think of him and love him LIKE CRAZY!

Inside of card.

New Stuff

I love playing with new toys:) Most of the things on this card come from the Spring Mini and Sale-a-Bration catalogs. I'm especially tickled because the layout is my own design. Since becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator last summer, my style has changed quite a bit. My focus before was on the technique more than the layout and tools. Now, I'm finally getting to the point where I can design my own layouts instead of using ideas from others. This is very satisfying to me. Now, if I can just get this new knee to hurry up and heal so I can sit at my desk longer, things will be great!
